We are NHBC Registered Housebuilders

We are delighted to announce that VMC Developments Ltd are now registered NHBC Housebuilders. In support of our new housing development project on Torrisholme Road in Lancaster, we have undergone a number of site inspections to ensure our build meets the established NHBC standards and have achieved full registration. The houses will all be marketed with the NHBC Buildmark Warranty offering peace of mind for our new homeowners.

Galgate Village Hall

Work is well underway on the new Village Hall development at Galgate, behind the Plough Inn. Sure to be a cherished community asset, this purpose built hall will offer the village a wealth of facilities to enhance the lives of residents young and old.

The building is a cross wall construction supporting roof purlins, with raking glulam beams supported by glulam columns in the lobby area.  Walls are masonry construction with grey standard profile composite roofing sheet roof. It will feature timber cladding and render to the external walls with UPVC windows and doors, giving the building a modern look. Its environmental credentials have been considered too, with the use of local contractors, sustainable materials and an energy efficient heating system. The project is expected to be completed in Spring 2012.

The new Sixth Form Extension at Ripley St Thomas CE Acedemy

We are pleased to announce the completion of the new extension to the Sixth Form Centre at Ripley St Thomas CE Academy. VMC worked closely with the client, their architect JMP Ltd and our partners on this project, and were delighted to be involved in this scheme, delivering this extended facility to allow the school to further expand the sixth form offering more places than ever to local students.

Completion of the new Chemotherapy Unit at Westmorland

July 28th, 2011

We are delighted to have been working with the local NHS Trust to refurbish Ward 8 at Westmorland General Hospital to deliver a new Chemotherapy unit, the Grizedale Unit, for the local community. This vital facility will enable users to access this service closer to home, relieving some of the stress incurred during a difficult treatment process. We are proud to have been involved in the development of the unit and congratulate the many dedicated fundraisers who contributed to the project funding on their achievement. The Grand Opening on 27th July was a huge success and everyone agreed that the environment was welcoming, functional and would bring great comfort to its patients.

Our works included altering the room layouts, forming new openings and partitions and refurbishment of existing rooms, including all ceiling, wall and floor finishings. It also included new fixed furniture and extensive mechanical and electrical works. Completed on time in just 10 weeks, this £150k project also achieved the Considerate Constructors Performance Beyond Compliance Certificate.

New contract award from local NHS Trust

Having achieved Preferred Contractor status with the North West Consortium of NHS Trusts, we are delighted to have won the contract to refurbish Ward 8 at Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal. The contract, which includes refurbishment and re-modelling of the ward, features a wealth of detail to enhance patient comfort.

Ripley St Thomas Sixth Form Extension

March 1st, 2011

We are delighted to have been awarded the contract for the extension of the Sixth Form Centre at Ripley St Thomas CE High School. Working with architects JMP Ltd, we will be extending the common room in order to accomodate the expanding student population at this successful Sixth Form Centre. We look forward to working with the school, design team and contract partners in delivery of this project.

Following our recent application, we have received planning permission to build 6 3-bedroomed homes on the site of the former John O’Gaunt Hotel on Torrisholme Road. This is an exciting development stream for VMC  and we are looking forward to the challenge.

Primary school extension completed

January 28th, 2011

We are delighted to have achieved completion of the project at St Marys CE Primary School, Kirkby Lonsdale on time and on budget. Although the weather caused us some issues with the external works, the end results look fantastic. These new facilities will not only enhance the school experience for staff and their pupils but for generations to come and we wish the Headteacher, Sarah Oldroyd, and her team all the best in their new surroundings.

St Marys CE Primary School update

November 3rd, 2010

Work is progressing well on the project at St Marys CE Primary School in Kirkby Lonsdale, to extend and remodel the school’s main entrance and Junior department. We recently welcomed ‘Ivor Goodsite’  from Considerate Constructors, teaching the children about safety around the site, and promoting our poster competition. Although the relentless rain of recent weeks has been an inconvenience, the team have completed the refurbishment of the existing classrooms ahead of schedule and are well on with the extension and external works.
