Work is well underway on the new Village Hall development at Galgate, behind the Plough Inn. Sure to be a cherished community asset, this purpose built hall will offer the village a wealth of facilities to enhance the lives of residents young and old.
The building is a cross wall construction supporting roof purlins, with raking glulam beams supported by glulam columns in the lobby area. Walls are masonry construction with grey standard profile composite roofing sheet roof. It will feature timber cladding and render to the external walls with UPVC windows and doors, giving the building a modern look. Its environmental credentials have been considered too, with the use of local contractors, sustainable materials and an energy efficient heating system. The project is expected to be completed in Spring 2012.
